Croatia has some of the best driving in Europe. The Dalmatian coast road, the islands, the bridges linking one headland to the next, and cities like Split and Zadar that are worth more than the afternoon most itineraries give them. Having your own car means you travel at your own speed and stop where you feel like stopping, rather than where the timetable puts you.

Continue Towards Italy

For a lot of travellers Italy is the natural next stop. Whether you are heading for Trieste and Venice, carrying on to Florence, or going further south, a one-way rental removes the single most wasteful part of a two-country trip: the drive back to the pick-up desk.

Instead you plan a route that runs forwards the whole way, from the Adriatic coast into northern Italy, and you fly home from wherever you finish.

  • Cross-border approval is required. Tell us where you are going and where you want to leave the car when you enquire, not afterwards.
  • A one-way fee applies. It depends on the route and the drop-off point, and it is shown on your quote before you confirm anything.
  • Documents. Valid identification for everyone in the car, and the vehicle documentation we provide, which stays in the car for the whole trip.
  • The route crosses Slovenia. Slovenian motorways require a vignette, so check that with us before you set off.
  • Tolls. Croatia, Slovenia and Italy all charge for motorway use, and each does it slightly differently. Budget for it and keep a card handy.
